In 1962, a young architect named Frank Gehry set up his studio in this former wig warehouse — and stayed four decades. His remodel wrapped the brick structure in stainless steel fascia, oversized external walkways, and the steel triangular prow that still faces the street. The designs that became the Walt Disney Concert Hall were drawn inside these walls, making 1520 one of LA's most significant pieces of working architectural history.
When Gehry outgrew the building, it was repositioned for media and film tenants. Today it houses producers, post houses, and content companies drawn to loft spaces with skylights, exposed brick, and tenant-controlled HVAC — plus free on-site parking, a rarity this close to the Expo Line.

Built in 2000 by architect David F. Hibbert on a former gas-station site, 1447 pairs a classic brick base with copper canopies designed to improve with age.
